assessment & REPORTING

There are several elements of Emmaus Catholic Primary School’s reporting package.

Our current reporting strategy has three key elements and aims to further strengthen our learning partnerships with families:

  1. Student Progress Report (Terms 2 & 4)

  2. Learning Conferences (Term 1 - Meet & Greet Foci and Term 2/3 Student Progress)

  3. Seesaw Journals (regular, ongoing, real time) containing student learning, assessment tasks and feedback via student.

STUDENT PROGRESS REPORT - PER SEMESTER

Victorian Curriculum

A graded achievement mark, and where applicable, an indication of a student’s progress against the Victorian Curriculum standards, are displayed for the following learning areas:

  • English

  • Mathematics

  • Physical Education

  • Visual Arts

  • Performing Arts

  • Capabilities

  • Humanities (Years 3 - 6)

  • Science (Years 3 - 6)

  • Technologies

A graded achievement mark for Religious Education is also displayed.

Teachers assign marks using a progression point according to the Victorian Curriculum Achievement Standards.

Within the progression grading scale, it is important to note that the ‘within standard’ mark spans a twelve month period of time. If a progression point sits on the left side of the shaded area it represents within standard at the lower end where consolidation is still occurring and if it appears on the right side of the shaded area, represents confidence at the expected level.

Learning & Social Behaviour

A learning and social behaviour scale that describes your child’s presentation of their personal and social capabilities.

LEARNING CONFERENCES

Our Learning Conferences occur at the beginning of the year and at mid year and provide parents with further information about their child’s learning progress and future learning needs.

SEESAW - THE LEARNING JOURNALS

At Emmaus, Seesaw is used as a digital learning portfolio. Throughout the semester, student Seesaw journals are updated regularly with evidence of achievement. Childrens’ Seesaw journal contains work samples and teacher comments that relate to children’s achievement and progress in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
