In 2018, Emmaus was acknowledged for its creative use of technology by being recognised as an Apple Distinguished School.

At the time, records showed there were 450 Apple Distinguished Schools worldwide across 34 countries. In Australia, there were 38 Apple Distinguished Schools, and in Victoria Emmaus was one of only five schools with this recognition.

Today, the Apple Distinguished School program has continued to grow significantly, with more than 1,100 Apple Distinguished Schools across 41 countries worldwide.

COLLABORATIVE INNOVATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT

At Emmaus Catholic Primary School, we are excited to launch our 2026 STEM MAD Project in partnership with St Columba's Primary School. As an Apple Distinguished School, Emmaus has been fortunate to receive a $27,000 CIRP funding grant to further strengthen technology resources and enhance high-quality teaching and learning in STEM across both schools.

Throughout the year, students from Emmaus and St Columba’s will collaborate through a range of shared learning experiences and events as they work towards creating a project for STEM MAD (Making a Difference). The initiative challenges students to use science, technology, engineering and mathematics to make a positive impact on their community or the wider world. The partnership will culminate in an application to present at the National STEM MAD Showcase, which will be held in Sydney in 2026.

This exciting opportunity not only supports innovation and authentic student learning, but also aims to inspire and encourage more schools to become involved in STEM education and collaborative learning experiences.
