UNIVERSAL WELLBEING PRACTICES

We have a suite of resources that support our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework and therefore our wellbeing practices.

These include:

  • the poster to the right is visible across the school and in all classroom spaces as part of our commitment to child safety.

  • all children having a Trust Hand where they each identify 3 -5 adults they trust at Emmaus for times when they experience a big feeling and are unsure what to do with it.

  • all classroom has carefully designed Chill Out Zones where children can regulate and / or co-regulate when they may be feeling out of balance.

  • our Emmaus Expected Behaviours that are accompanied with a matrix of key observable behaviours that are taught explicitly from Foundation to Year 6.

  • our Emmaus Positive Behaviour Pathway that is used to support children when an unexpected behaviour occurs.

  • our Buddy Program (Yr 6 & Foundation students)

  • our Peer Mediator Program where Yr 4 students are trained to support low level conflict in the yard.

  • Gobata (meaning ‘to take care’ in Wadawurrung language) - a purpose designed regulation space accessible for all students
